Review: Engage From Your Stage- Destiny Training by Scott deMoulin

Engage From Your Stage- Destiny Training by Scott deMoulin

Before attending the event I had already read Dale Carnegie's The Art of Public Speaking; hence I was aware of how important being good at public speaking was, and the difference it can make for your career if you were a good speaker vs an average speaker.

I also had two friends who have previously attended the event and they have briefed me on "the anatomy of a speech" section as well as the exercises that were going to be done.

"Engage From Your Stage is a truly transformational experience with only 6 participants where you will erase limitation and become more comfortable being uncomfortable. You'll rehearse until you embody the proven verbal and physical communication skills and discover the importance of syntax and how to better engage and persuade your listeners with integrity, while you move your audience towards your desired call to action with your message."Source

I want to be a great public...

Podcast: From High Stakes Poker to E-commerce with Aloysius Chay (EP006)

Aloysius used to play poker professionally. During his formative years, He played poker for close to a decade, spending a few years in Macau. It started off with micro stakes playing for $0.1/0.2 home games and he slowly worked his way up to the high stakes in Macau ($1k/$2k HKD).

It was pretty joyous days when he hustled Chinese whales from Mainland China and also crunched numbers using software’s to achieve game theory optimal strategies (GTO) to stay ahead vs the rest of the professionals.

Subsequently, there was a great opportunity to move towards a booming industry of e-commerce and he transited over with his partner Galvin. It went fairly well from a 2-man startup grinding 100 hour work weeks to a tidy 30man+ operation that covers the different departments necessary for e-commerce. He had to do everything in initial stages and slowly that was delegated out to the team handling different departments such as customer support, creative work, media buying, fulfilment and...

Review: Launch by Jeff Walker

Summary: "With his Product Launch Formula, Jeff Walker has changed the way we sell. In his book Launch, he outlines his tried-and-tested strategy for selling products online and building a business that’s almost guaranteed to bring success. Walker shows you how he’s succeeded by outlining a step-by-step plan for launching your product – even before you know exactly what it is." Source

This is actually a popular model and a lot of people have used this  and it worked really well in the past. It's a one time launch thing where you hype it up before the launch. My plan was to combine this with a 14 or 21 day challenge and TPB (from Brendon's online course creation)

Since I'm planning on launching an online course, and I want to try out this Launch formula. Since lots of people have used it in the past and it worked for them, my hypothesis is that it could still be a good model in Asia.

It's important for me to test out various...

Review: Experts Academy Live - Brendon Burchard (25th-28th Oct 2018)

Experts Academy Live Santa Clara

I had no idea what I was getting into when I signed up for this. I had previously done a few of Brendon Burchard's online courses and loved them, and since this event fitted into my calendar perfectly (another event ended 1 day earlier in Las Vegas and I could fly back from SF after attending this event in Santa Clara), I decided to go for it.

Mainly, I wanted to see Brendon Burchard live; I did not know what I did not know.

What is Experts Academy Live: " Brendon Burchard and the world’s most experienced influencers as they share their business models, audience growth strategies, social media campaigns, and modern monetization strategies for book deals, online sales, sponsorships, brand deals, documentaries, appearances, and partnerships." source

Wow. I never realised how many coaches there were. The first day was spent understanding how these 'Experts' business work, and why you can do a lot of good in the world by being...

Review: Willpower Doesn't Work by Benjamin P. Hardy

Summary of book: "How to make the biggest decisions of your life--and why those decisions must be made in specific settings How to create a daily "sacred" environment to live your life with intention, and not get sucked into the cultural addictions How to invest big in yourself to upgrade your environment and mindset How to put "forcing functions" in your life--so your default behaviours are precisely what you want them to be How to quickly put yourself in proximity to the most successful people in the world--and how to adapt their knowledge and skills to yourself even quicker How to create an environment where endless creativity and boundless productivity is the norm " Source

Before reading this book I was already aware of a few things: 1. relying only on willpower will never work, because when we're tired or aren't feeling at our best it's easy to give up on things we set out to do 2. there is the internal and external component to living a disciplined life 3. it's...

Podcast: From High Stakes Poker to Cultivating Your Mindset and Preparing for Business Success with Elliot Roe (EP005)

Elliot Roe is one of the best mindset coaches in poker, and he helps so many poker players reach the highest levels. As a hypnotherapist and mindset coach, Elliot has worked with many poker players across his career, ranging from low-stakes to high-stakes players. He uses hypnotherapy to help players work through the issues that they bring to the table. There’s a lot of crossover between the self-sabotage that he sees at the business table and the poker table, he points out.

Often, when moving from poker to other fields, people don’t know their strengths. Those who succeed at poker, you have to be highly intelligent and good at problem-solving, Elliot points out today. In fact, the competition is lower in business than in poker. That isn’t to say that the transition will always be easy; the soft skills required in the business world may be a challenge, especially for primarily online poker players.

If that has you concerned, don’t worry; Elliot...

Podcast: From High Stakes Poker To Problem Solving with Fedor Holz (EP004)

For those in the poker world, Fedor Holz needs no introduction. After quitting poker a couple years ago, he started dabbling in various things, particularly building a community focusing on an environment of creativity. In poker, he points out, his tendency to lose interest in things he doesn’t feel passionate about in the moment was a good thing.

Fedor enjoys and is energized by puzzling out and solving problems, and not so much by the process of actually executing the path that he figures out. A few years ago, he didn’t see the potential for this kind of growth in poker anymore. This made him want to quit in favor of developing other skills rather than just monetizing something that he was already good at.

Speaking of skills, one of the most valuable skills that Fedor developed from playing poker is problem solving, he’ll explain today. He chats in our conversation about how he applies to this skill to his current work in consulting, explaining...

Review: Date With Destiny - Tony Robbins (6th - 11th Dec 2018)

DWD West Palm Beach

This was not my first TR event; I had previously attended Unleash The Power Within in London (Apr 2018), and watched I'm Not Your Guru. As such I was aware of the "6 basic human needs": 1.Certainty, 2.Uncertainty, 3. Significance, 4.Love/Connection, 5.Growth, 6.Contribution. I also learnt that you can change your state whenever you want to and the way you act; whatever you focus on, energy flows in that direction .

I decided to attend DWD as it is Tony's flagship program and I've heard good things from multiple trusted sources.

I joined Tony's Platinum Partnership Program ($85k USD for all events + approx $10kUSD more for each Platinum event), so DWD was included. Tickets usually cost around $4-10k USD depending on the type of seat and timing you choose to purchase. It is cheaper if you buy through a platinum partner or as a group to enjoy discounts at events such as UPW.

I went into DWD wanting to understand myself better:

1. To understand the reasons...

Podcast: From High Stakes Poker To Assessing Behavior, Reading Tells, & Running a Business with Blake Eastman (EP003)

After watching Rounders when he was 17, Blake Eastman knew that poker was what he wanted to do with his life. More accurately, he wanted to live the story of Rounders, making enough money with poker to pay for law school. He did so well with poker, though, that he stuck with it instead. After a couple years of playing, he shifted from playing poker to coaching and creating a poker business.

Blake is an interesting guest since his transition out of playing poker hasn’t taken him out of the poker world. As he explains, now that he’s a business owner, he’s starting to embody the skills and lessons that he learned from playing poker. He’ll also dig into his challenges now as he transitions from a business focusing specifically on poker to a more general business.

Because Blake is a psychology expert, we’ll spend a good amount of time talking about various aspects of psychology in poker. This ranges from everything including the anxiety that...
